Situated in Jiulongpo District, the latest store offers over 11,000 products on a sales space of about 4,000 square meters. The assortment includes about 2,300 imported goods from 30 countries and 1,800 items in METRO’s private label ranges. With the newly opened store, the company hopes to further tap the big consumer potential of the booming city of Chongqing as well as to strengthen its sales network and channels for the southwestern region of China in general.

METRO entered Chongqing in 2001 with its first store in the western region of China, and expanded its footprint in city in 2013 with the 2nd opening. As a major manufacturing centre and transportation hub, Chongqing is one of the most robust megalopolises in China and one of the four municipalities under the direct administration of central government (the other three are Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin). Since 2004 Chongqing has been a sister city of Düsseldorf, where METRO AG is headquartered.
