The new store is situated in the business hub of the city Tumakuru, about 70 km northwest of Bengaluru, where METRO already operates 6 stores. The latest opening has strengthened METRO’s portfolio in the state of Karnataka.

Operating on a space of about 2,300 square meters, Tumakuru store is first in METRO India to be built on the small store format, which will be applied in the company’s upcoming expansion in India.

Upon opening, the Tumakuru store already has 25,000 registered professional customers across the city as well as from the neighbouring markets such as Sira, Gubi and Tiptur. They will benefit from an assortment of about 4,500 high quality food and non-food products as well as METRO India’s B2B e-commerce App that provides professional customers with an efficient shopping experience. In particular, the solution of OPD: online ordering, digital payment and door-step delivery through GPS enabled trucks, will create value and convenience for the small businesses and trader customers.

METRO India is committed to empowering local independent businesses, particularly Kirana shops, with its broad product ranges as well as tailored digital solutions that enhance Kiranas’ competitiveness in the rapidly changing retail landscape.
