METRO AG along with 8 METRO/MAKRO countries have been recognised as Top Employers in 2022. Top Employer – that means offering employees an outstanding working and development environment and putting them first, which is a special challenge during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Desk sharing and home office are changing the world of work, not least since the pandemic. Despite the Corona crisis, many companies manage to offer their employees an excellent working environment.

METRO AG along with 8 METRO/MAKRO countries have been recognised as Top Employers in 2022. While all of them received their local country certificates, the European organisations have additionally been awarded the Top Employer Europe 2022 seal.

‘We are very proud that we are once again a Top Employer and congratulate our colleagues in the recognised country organisations on this success,’ says Jerome Grillet, Director Global Talent Acquisition at METRO AG.

‘Our employees are our most important asset. We have spared no effort, even under the current challenging conditions, to improve their experience at METRO. The rise in the Top Employers’ scores compared to 2021, especially in the “Work environment” and “Digital HR” categories, are a real encouragement to continue on our journey.’

METRO AG has been commended as a Top Employer in Germany in 2022 by the Top Employers Institute, marking the 7th time the company has achieved such recognition. An additional 8 METRO/MAKRO country organisations also received the award: METRO Bulgaria, METRO France, METRO Italy, METRO Pakistan, MAKRO Poland, METRO Romania, METRO Russia and METRO Turkey. All European companies also earned the accolade of Top Employer Europe 2022, which METRO received for the 8th time. Through the Top Employers Institute Certification Programme, METRO/MAKRO is validated, certified and recognised as an employer of choice.

Key aspects that have contributed to this recognition are initiatives that promote and challenge employees. These include not only employee training and education as well as career perspectives and further education, but also well-being offerings such as time management courses and the extended vaccination/immunisation programme.

The Top Employers Institute programme certifies organisations based on the participation in and results of their HR Best Practices Survey. The survey covers 6 HR domains consisting of 20 topics including People Strategy, Work Environment, Talent Acquisition, Learning, Well-being, and Diversity & Inclusion. Established over 30 years ago, the Top Employers Institute has certified over 1,850 organisations in 123 countries/regions. These certified Top Employers positively impact the lives of over 8 million employees globally.
