Holding Statement: METRO AG on METRO Russia Donation

In response to reports regarding a donation by METRO Russia to the Russian organisation “People’s Front”, METRO AG clarifies its position.

The decision by METRO Russia to donate to the Russian organisation “All-Russia People's Front” was neither coordinated with METRO AG nor authorized or approved by METRO AG. Since METRO Russia was placed under forced temporary administration as of September 28, METRO AG no longer has operational control over METRO Russia and has no influence over its operational decisions.

METRO AG expressly distances itself from any financial support for Russia’s war against Ukraine. Financing or supporting acts of war is neither consistent with our position nor with the way we conduct our business.
