The football club Fortuna Düsseldorf and METRO have further expanded their partnership and extended the contract for the long term ahead of schedule. The Düsseldorf-based group's own-brand logo METRO Chef will feature on Fortuna's jersey sleeves until at least 2028. In addition, METRO will also be present on the professionals' training clothing in the future.
METRO has been a partner of Fortuna since 2022 and has also been a sleeve sponsor since last season. With immediate effect, the Düsseldorf-based group joins Targobank, Adidas and Hewlett Packard Enterprise on the first level of the Fortuna partner family with extensive sponsorship services. METRO is supporting the second-division football club especially in the areas of food and hospitality. The METRO Lounge in the east boxes of the Merkur Spiel Arena, for example, was recently the subject of a new catering concept, which was also given a new look. It is an important step that underscores the close partnership between Fortuna and METRO.
Alexander Jobst, CEO of Fortuna Düsseldorf: "We are pleased to have METRO, as a Düsseldorf-based company, even more strongly at our side as one of our most important partners in the coming years. The extension of the partnership and a term of another four years emphasise the commitment of METRO to Fortuna's chosen path. This gives us planning security and a tailwind. We are grateful for the trust placed in us by Targobank as jersey sponsor, Adidas as kit supplier and METRO as sleeve partner, all of whom are now supporting Fortuna in the long term."
Dr Steffen Greubel, CEO of METRO AG: "As one of Düsseldorf's leading companies, we are delighted to extend our close partnership with Fortuna for another four years at an early stage. By working closely together on the food & hospitality concept of the traditional club, we are also emphasising our close ties with Düsseldorf as a city of sport, culture and hospitality in equal measure."
