What do the national subsidiaries really do? What is unique about their business, their markets, their goods, their services and their people? A newly launched series titled ‘Country Portraits’ aims to answer these very questions.
METRO AG is an international company. The wholesale and food expert serves hotels, restaurants, caterers and independent retailers in 26 countries all over the world under its brands METRO and MAKRO. Its employees hail from 159 countries and speak 23 languages between them.
The METRO group, which is listed on the MDax index, will produce detailed features to take potential employees, suppliers, customers, bankers, investors and journalists on a journey through its world. In its new category ‘Country Portraits’ on the website www.metro-cc.com, the company will be travelling around the world of METRO twice over the course of the next two years. Each part of the illustrated series will explore one of the 26 METRO countries through the eyes of its local customers and employees. The first stop is METRO’s home market of Germany with Christa Eickenscheidt and Sebastian Weißenfels as the hosts.
Christa (31) manages the ‘Wetterkamp’ restaurant in the Ruhr area in the third generation. When it comes to securing the future of her restaurant, she does not shy away from untraditional methods: she enjoys using the digital solutions of the DISH platform, which was launched in Germany in 2018. The METRO customer managers support her. Sebastian Weißenfels is one of them. METRO Germany employs 600 regional employees, giving it the largest customer service team in the German food wholesale industry.
