METRO was honoured with this year's DPOK award in the CSR & Annual Report category for its 2022/23 online annual report entitled ON TRACK. For the largest digital award in the German-speaking world, over 45 communication experts evaluate outstanding digital projects in 52 categories to identify and honour the most innovative and exceptional submissions.

The jury particularly recognised the use of interactive data visualisations in the annual report, which present complex business data and statistics in an understandable and appealing way, allowing users to explore the data. The jury’s verdict: ‘The company presents relevant information and data in a clear and understandable manner, thereby promoting trust and credibility among readers.’ The jury also appreciated that the online annual report was designed and implemented not merely as a product but as an integrated communication tool.

The online magazine MPULSE and METRO’s TikTok campaign also made it onto the shortlist, narrowly missing a place on the winner’s podium. The focus was on the new design of the storytelling magazine, which provides an inspiring introduction to METRO's online world. New anchor navigation, an improved search function, standardised text columns and a modern image layout make navigation even more user-friendly.

METRO was also nominated for the DPOK award in the category TikTok Campaign with the project ‘METRO and career guru: recruiting new talent through gamification’. The campaign reached over 290,000 people on METRO's TikTok channel, generating high engagement and consistently positive feedback.

Since 2011, the DPOK (German Prize for Online Communication) has honoured exceptional projects, professional campaign planning and innovative digital communication strategies. The prestigious award is organised by the media and education company Quadriga and the communication magazine KOM.
