JHB acquires Swedish fish FSD specialist Fisk Idag to strengthen foodservice competitiveness

Johan i Hallen & Bergfalk is a leading Swedish specialist supplier for meat, fish, and seafood

The Swedish food service distribution (FSD) specialist Johan i Hallen & Bergfalk (JHB), member of METRO since May 2023, has today announced the acquisition of Fisk i dag i Göteborg AB (Fisk Idag), a Gothenburg-based fish-specialised FSD company, from Nordward Seafood Group. The closing is subject to customary approval by local regulatory authorities.

Fisk Idag is an established regional fish wholesale specialist with a particular focus on Western Sweden, including the Gothenburg area. Serving more than 500 customers nationwide with about 50 employees, the company operates with broad fish and seafood expertise and unique production capabilities through its facilities in Fiskhamnen and in Öckerö. In 2023, Fisk Idag generated revenues of approx. € 24 million.

JHB, a leading FSD company serving about 4,000 hospitality customers across Sweden and Finland, was acquired by METRO in May 2023 as a key addition to METRO’s existing FSD portfolio. With this bolt-on acquisition of Fisk Idag, JHB is well positioned to keep its growth momentum and strengthen its competitiveness in the foodservice sector in Sweden and Finland.
