METRO France opens new online platform for B2B customers and new logistics centre

METRO France, market leader in the local HoReCa market, has yesterday launched its new METRO MARKETS online platform for B2B customers and fully dedicated warehouse. From October, more than 3,300 of the 100,000 non-food items available on the online marketplace will be processed for fulfillment on in the warehouse of 18,300 square metres in Roye, Picardy. By 2025, the assortment will grow to 300,000 items, including products from third-party sellers. Items available include furniture, small and large appliances, tableware, culinary preparation, disposable solutions, hygiene and care, office supplies and equipment.

"After the launch of the first e-commerce website in 2012 and our first French marketplace in 2019, the launch of METRO MARKETS with a significantly expanded assortment is a strong impulse for the rapidly developing online business. With this, we are specifically addressing the current and future expectations of our customers and the gastronomy market towards us as a wholesaler", says Pascal Peltier, CEO of METRO France.

With the launch, METRO France marks another milestone in the international METRO MARKETS expansion and is the sixth marketplace since the launch in Germany in 2019.

METRO MARKETS is a wholly owned subsidiary of METRO AG and is responsible for building and operating what is now Europe's largest non-food online marketplace for the HoReCa industry (hotels, restaurants, and caterers). Launched in Germany in 2019, the platform is now also available in Spain, Italy, Portugal, the Netherlands and France. Per year, 2-3 more METRO countries are on the expansion list. The online marketplace of METRO MARKETS is designed to cover any need of professional customers via a one-stop-shop: restaurateurs get everything they need in an uncomplicated way via a single platform. Retailers with a gastronomy focus list and manage their products themselves via a digital interface. This is how the marketplace concept plays to its strengths: offering the greatest possible variety of products at attractive prices. METRO MARKETS plans to increase its sales to more than EUR 3 billion by 2030. Further information is available at
