METRO and FEBA celebrate the "International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste"

This week METRO celebrated its partnership with the European Federation of Food Banks (FEBA) at the virtual conference: "Food, no waste! European Food Banks: concrete answers for people, for the planet". METRO has committed itself to reducing food waste within own operations by half until 2025 and now partners with food banks in 22 countries. They are a reliable partner in this effort as they collect leftover, consumable food and distribute it to the needy.  In addition, METRO supports the food banks with know how of experts from the company.

This week on the first “International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste”, Adrian Ariciu, CEO of METRO Romania, welcomes the initiative and presents the long-term commitment of the company to reduce food waste. In Romania, the Food Bank is currently operating as a federation (Federation of Food Banks of Romania - FBAR) with 4 organisations in the cities of Cluj, Roman, Brasov and Oradea. It is the first non-governmental organisation in Romania to work according to the principles of FEBA and METRO is proud to be a partner.
