METRO has extended its sponsorship agreement with Fortuna Düsseldorf ahead of schedule and further expanded the partnership as a future strategic partner. As a result, the company headquartered in Düsseldorf will become the new sleeve sponsor of the second-division club. In addition, METRO has set up a new gastronomic concept in the form of the METRO Lounge in the East Boxes of the Merkur Spiel Arena, which has also been visually redesigned. This underlines Fortuna and METRO's close partnership for the coming years.
Starting next season, METRO will adorn the sleeves of Fortuna's football tricots with its own brand METRO Chef for at least two years, which will be presented during the upcoming summer break. The METRO Chef private label offers high-quality food products that are precisely tailored to demanding restaurateurs. Through the broad, global and inspiring METRO Chef assortment, METRO helps professional chefs to always offer their guests the best.
METRO has already been a partner of the traditional club since January 2022 and supplies the arena as well as Fortuna's junior training centre with food. The newly created METRO Lounge is based on the results of a satisfaction survey of box guests, from which impulses for the new gastronomic concept were drawn. The classic buffet stations have given way to themed food stands. The focus is on Italian gastronomy, German cuisine with brewery classics as well as snack and café stations. Visually, both METRO and Fortuna are reflected in the new concept. Many sustainable elements show both the wholesale and football character.
