As part of a marketing cooperation, the U78 line from Düsseldorf's main station to the Merkur Spielarena/Messe Nord will be running in the METRO design from 1 August 2023. For the next 13 months, the trams will each be designed with specially selected motifs. One tram will present the own brands METRO Chef and METRO Professional. Another will present the digital solutions for restaurateurs of the DISH brand, while a third tram will point to the online shop METRO.de.
As a locally anchored company headquartered in Düsseldorf, METRO would like to underline its solidarity and close cooperation with the state capital.
METRO has already been involved with Fortuna since January 2022 and will be the new sleeve sponsor of the traditional Düsseldorf football club as a strategic partner from the 2023/24 season. In addition, METRO has also been supporting the Gourmet Festival Düsseldorf as the main sponsor and hospitality partner since 2022. Europe's largest open-air food festival attracts over 200 exhibitors from the hospitality industry and around 100,000 visitors every year.
Especially for the 2024 European Football Championship, the Rheinbahn Marketing will be sending out an additional visible signal, as the U78 will then travel directly to the Düsseldorf venue of the European Championship.
