METRO new main sponsor of the Gourmet Festival Düsseldorf

As of this year, METRO is supporting the Gourmet Festival Düsseldorf as new main sponsor and partner of the hospitality industry. As the largest open-air food festival in Europe, the festival attracts more than 200 exhibitors from the gastronomy sector and around 100,000 visitors from the region and beyond every year. Under the motto "Enjoy with friends", visitors to this year's 10th edition of the festival from 26-28 August 2022 will once again be invited, after a two-year pandemic break, to stroll along Königsallee in perfect surroundings and enjoy a wide variety of culinary delights and be inspired. The festival will be accompanied by an extensive programme of tastings, competitions and live cooking.

METRO not only supports the Gourmet Festival Düsseldorf financially, but the team of the METRO store Düsseldorf also offers to supply the caterers at the festival with the food they need and smoothly organises replenishments when required. In this way, METRO positions itself as a partner of the gastronomy sector as well as supports the further development of a lively and innovative gastronomy and food culture scene in the state capital, which is also the company's headquarters. Thus, the more than 3000 employees in Düsseldorf were actively invited to attend the popular gourmet event.

At the same time, METRO is also using the attention of the festival to raise political issues, because the gastronomy continues to face many challenges and the shortage of employees and skilled workers in particular is currently one of the most pressing challenges facing the sector. METRO is therefore dedicating a political discussion event to the topic of staff shortages on the fringe of the festival with the aim of discussing concrete measures and potential solutions with restaurateurs as well as representatives from politics, associations and organisations. METRO is also a partner of the "GastroFamily" campaign, which aims to contribute to raising public awareness of the professions and opportunities in gastronomy.
