METRO-NOM, the IT unit of METRO, opens its third location in Romania. Following Bucharest and Brasov, METRO-NOM now also drives the digital transformation from its offices in Cluj-Napoca. In this city, which is also known as the “Silicon Valley of Romania”, METRO-NOM moves into the new and modern office building “The Cube Office”. A co-working space allows for collaborative work in a start-up atmosphere, the “Software Development Factory” in addition gives employees the opportunity to work on innovations in teams during business hours while being released from their professional duties. In a café operated to this effect, employees and external guests from the local IT community are invited to share their ideas. In this context also meet-ups and other formats are planned.
“Romania is a strong location for METRO-NOM. Almost half of our IT staff work there. Here, we appear under the brand METRO SYSTEMS. With the opening of the new hub in Cluj-Napoca, we would like to present ourselves as an employer in a city with a strong IT- and start-up community and attract new talents to our company,” says Timo Salzsieder, CIO of METRO AG and CEO of METRO-NOM.
“As METRO SYSTEMS, we are already known as an attractive employer in the tech sector in Romania. As a popular employer brand, our new approaches, the modern working environment and the networking of the industry give us a unique selling proposition in the Romanian job market. And now also in Cluj,” says Jürgen Boekholt, CEO of METRO SYSTEMS. “For our new office at the tech city of Cluj we are looking for product owners, software developers and UI/UX designers who would like to work on exciting IT solutions and are looking for international challenges – because that is precisely what we are offering to our colleagues.” says Boekholt.
