Carnival enthusiast have something to look forward to: on Rose Monday, 16 February 2026, METRO will once again be participating in the Düsseldorf Carnival parade with its own wagon. Following its grand debut in 2025, the Düsseldorf-based wholesale company is continuing its festive participation. The wagon, designed by renowned carnival wagon builder Jacques Tilly, is once again generating a lot of excitement. Its motto, ‘METRO un de Gastro gehöre zesammen wie Pott un Deckel,’ playfully depicts the close partnership between METRO and the gastronomy sector in the Rhineland dialect. METRO’s own brands will also be in the spotlight again, featuring as costumes and being used as promotional gifts.

‘Our participation in the Rose Monday parade is much more than just a colourful appearance; it is an expression of our connection to Düsseldorf,’ says Dr Steffen Greubel, CEO of METRO AG. ‘As an international company headquartered in this city, it is important to us to be an active part of the urban community and to actively support cultural diversity and the Rhineland's zest for life here at our location.’

The Comitee Düsseldorfer Carneval e. V. also welcomes the continuation of the partnership: ‘The fact that METRO is once again involved in the Düsseldorf Carnival is a strong sign,’ emphasises Lothar J. Hörning, President of the association. ‘Companies like METRO help to keep our traditions alive and enable the people of the city to celebrate together. This is very much in keeping with the spirit of Rhineland togetherness.’

With the METRO carnival float, the company will once again thrill millions of spectators along the parade route in 2026. Around 20 METRO representatives will throw sweets from the wagon, and 70 other employees will accompany the wagon as part of the running group. Alongside other local initiatives in Düsseldorf, METRO's participation in the Rose Monday parade also shows that economic success and social commitment go hand in hand in Düsseldorf and actively involves the workforce in the commitment.
