METRO Romania inaugurates new FSD depot in Bucharest

METRO Romania has reached a new milestone in its strategic multichannel transfomation with the opening of a modern depot for Food Service Distribution (FSD) on the outskirts of Bucharest. The new warehouse facility, operating on a space of 12,000 m2, is the company’s 1st ever standalone FSD depot dedicated to delierving efficiently to customers in the Horeca and independent grocery sectors, particularly the partners of the La Doi Pasi franchise network, in and around the capital city.
The new infrastructure, equipped with 25 ramps and state-of-the-art temperature-controlled zones for chilled and frozen assortments, provides a total capacity for 8,400 pallets and over 11,500 products.
By combining technology, process excellence and strong expertise, the logistics facility is designed to further boost METRO Romania’s operational efficiency and quality of its delivery service to respond ever better towards the growing demand for multichannel purchasing by its professional customers. It promises to empower more efficient stock availability management, shorter lead times, more predictable deliveries and reliable quality and freshness through consistent cold-chain integrity, contributing crucially to the success of its customers’ business.
In its multichannel transformation, METRO Romania has already established a strong delivery network consisting of 26 wholesale stores, the central logistics hub near Bucharest and two platforms in Reșița and Slobozia respectively, to fulfill nationwide deliveries for over 11,000 customers every day through a dedicated team of 500 specialists and a fleet of more than 300 trucks that travel collectively more than 40,000 km annually to guarantee on-time service.
